Special Pattern and Shape Cuts
Do you need a unique shape of glass for your project? Through custom glass cutting our skilled craftsmen can make nearly any special pattern or shape you need. Just share the dimensions and specifications of your desired cut – if circular, include the radius or diameter – within the comments section of our order form. The best way to cut tempered glass in a special shape would be to provide an electronic rending, or CAD format.
CAD drawings are the best because we have the ability to enter it into our system and provide the most precise cut possible.
If you don’t have the ability to create a CAD rendering, or the shape is difficult to describe, you can also send a preliminary drawing to support@onedayglass.com or by fax to (360) 892-8152 for approval. If we are unsuccessful at creating a digital file, your next option is to send a paper template. Prepare a tracing of the pattern you want as well as your name plus contact info and send to the following address:

Since our glass tints are through the entire thickness of the glass, it is more durable and will not rub off like tinted films will. Glass tints of the same color will appear darker with thicker glass. Look at the color charts by thickness to see how the tint will affect darkness.

And we can cut tinted glass within an industry-leading 1/16th-of-an-inch cutting tolerance, which means we can match your exact specifications. Custom Shape Cuts and Patterns FAQS
You can cut tempered glass by first annealing the piece. Make sure to place it into a craft oven or a kiln and heat it to about 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Once done, carefully let it cool down for eight or nine hours. It would be best to cut it first into your desired shape and size when cutting tempered glass. This is because it is challenging to cut it again without shattering it.
The cost of getting a glass varies, but the average would be $30 and $40, depending on how the glass will be cut.
There are several methods that you can follow to cut glass in different shapes, and these are:
- Tracing Method – Carefully draw around each template shape onto the stained glass before cutting the inside of the outlined line.
- Templates Method – Stick the template using glue before using its edge as a guide for cutting glass shapes.
- English Method – Place the glass directly on top of the pattern and look down through the glass to cut the shapes.
It is pretty challenging to pick the best tool for cutting glass because there are lots of them. But when choosing a glass cutter, make sure that you make clean cuts. Meaning, the glass cutter should score or make a slight mark across the glass without cracking or chipping it. Not only that, but the best cutting glass cutter can withstand several uses without going dull. You only need to replace the blade if it gets dull.
